Location information from Whittemore’s website:

Whittemore House is located directly across Forsyth Boulevard from Washington University at 6440 Forsyth Boulevard.

Directions from the West

Take the new I-64 East to I-170 North exit to Forest Park Parkway East. Turn right on Big Bend Boulevard then turn left on Forsyth to 6440 Forsyth.

Directions from the East

Parking

There are several parking spaces available, on a first-come basis, in the driveway in front of Whittemore House, including a few marked for handicap parking. Members of Whittemore House driving cars marked for handicap parking, can phone in advance of a reservation; if available, a handicap space will be reserved with the member’s name.

After 6pm on Fridays and all day Saturday/Sunday free parking is available directly across the street at Washington University.

Transportation

Air travel to St. Louis

Pretty much the only airport for the St. Louis area is Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, code STL.  The airport website is fairly useful, including a handy table of who flies where from STL.

The primary carriers for St. Louis are American and Southwest.  American frequently has fare sales for STL, you can search for those here (you can sign up for alerts too).  You can find special offers for Southwest here.

Transportation to/from the airport

The Knight Center does not offer a shuttle, but their website has a good summary of options:

By taxi:
Cab fare is $30 – $35 each way.  For reservations, call County Cab at 314.991.5300.

By car:
Drive time from the airport to the Washington University campus is about 15 minutes. For driving directions, see below.

Directions via Metrolink
Via Metrolink: For $3, you can take the light-rail system to the University City/Big Bend Station. After exiting the train, take the elevator or stairs to street level. Washington University’s Danforth campus is on the southeast corner (Big Bend and Forest Park Parkway).
To reach the Knight Center, walk east on Forest Park Parkway and turn right on Throop Drive. The Knight Center is straight ahead.

I should note that cabs are available without reservation in the airport as well and Metrolink is very easy to navigate.

Although the wedding is within walking distance of the Knight Center, I do recommend that you get a rental car if you want to explore St. Louis.  There is onsite rental at the airport, information about which can be found here.

Other options

Unfortunately alternatives are somewhat limited.  Amtrak does serve St. Louis although it is infamous for its delays.  The only alternative I can vouch for is Megabus, servicing Chicago, central Illinois, Kansas City, and Columbia (MO) from St. Louis.  I have taken the Chicago-St. Louis route many times and it’s always been a pleasant experience–very clean, new double-decker buses, free wi-fi, passengers mostly well-scrubbed students (so nothing like Greyhound).  Tickets are usually around $20 (sometimes less) each way and they drop off downtown, where you can get a cab from or take the Metrolink light rail system as above.

Hotel

The Knight Center

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Charles F. Knight Center on the campus of Washington University.  Our group rate is $99/night for a room with a single queen bed.  The rooms are quite nice–the Knight Center is where Wash U’s executive business education is located–and since it’s right on campus you can walk to the wedding/reception site in about 5 minutes.  And they have free snacks!

To reserve at our $99/night rate, please call the Knight Center at 866-933-9400 and request the rate for the Chopra-Carey wedding. Online reservations are not available at the group rate.  For more information, check out their website here.

The Knight Center is the only hotel within walking distance of the wedding.  But if you would like information on alternatives, please just let me know.  This page has some good options as well.
